King Kruel
You Heat Me Up, You Cool Me Down
Not familiar with the grimy punk jazz of Archy Marshall’s alter ego, King Kruel? You should be. This dark English troubadour, with a voice like gravel dipped in molasses, has an anger about him and it’s palpable. You Heat Me Up… was recorded just weeks before the world went into lockdown, offering a glimpse into ‘the tour not to be’ of his critically acclaimed third album, ‘Man Alive!’ We’re big fans. We’re bummed we never got to see this tour. So this is a pleasant runner up prize.
Machinedrum
Psychonia
Slick production, classic samples, hip hop features, synth melodies and all-out electronica, Machinedrum’s September EP release Psyconia packs a staggering punch in a very short space. With a polished complexity that’ll have you heading back for another little listen… and then another, this is a real bit of fun for the ears.
Hania Rani, Dobrawa Czocher
Dunkel
Longtime friends and musical collaborators Hania Rani and Dobrawa Czocher deliver a stunning new single from their forthcoming album, Inner Symphonies. The youngest female composer duo signed to renowned music label Deutsche Grammophon, Rani and Czocher are helping to usher in an entirely new generation of modern classical music. Truly beautiful stuff. We can't wait for the album in October.
