Albums EPs & Singles – Week #37
Matteo Myderwyk
Notes of Longing
Combining solo piano with electronic synth, Myderwyk’s debut album release on renowned label Warner Classics is breathtaking in moments, intriguing in others. Notes of Longing dances in arhythmic patterns like the starlings of its cover art, plunging through deeply emotive structures before rising to loftier heights. Well worth the listen.
Boy Willows
Bangs
Boy Willows is the moniker of LA-based musician Landon Fleischman, and Bangs is his killer six-track bedroom pop EP. Hazy and foreboding, Bangs has a way of blending the best of indie, dream and folk-pop to deliver a whimsical journey through loneliness and self reflection.
Michael Beach
Societal Breakdown
Michael Beach’s Societal Breakdown fuses the guitar fuzz of a Ty Segal with the equal parts compelling yet unsettling vocal delivery of a Daniel Blumberg. It’s the best way I can describe this work. A rollicking and off-kilter ride toward an utterly discordant and fulfilling crescendo. I loved it.
